On December 6th and 7th Oracle’s PeopleSoft team conducted the second PeopleSoft Partner Summit in as many years. By all accounts the event was a resounding success. 66 partners from 32 organizations were in attendance (13% higher attendance that the 2015 event). Over 40 hours of content was delivered over two days. The two day event updated partners on PeopleSoft’s key architectural, technology, and functional changes that have changed the way partners deploy, upgrade, and maintain PeopleSoft for their clients. The event also educated partners on the business value of the latest functional enhancements and provided partners with visibility into the ongoing investment in PeopleSoft applications and technology. Based on feedback from the 2015 PeopleSoft Partner Summit, the 2016 event included fewer general sessions (only ½ day) and more interactive break-out discussions by application pillar (HCM and ERP) as well as tools and technology (1 ½ days). Of course it is not all heads down education for the partners, the social reception on the first night of the event was an opportunity for the partners to network with each other and the PeopleSoft team.
Event feedback from partners has been extremely positive. Partners were “blown away” by the features and functions being delivered in PeopleSoft (e.g. Fluid UI Forms and Approval Builder) and how quickly they were being delivered. Partners expected a couple of “golden nuggets” of information from the event but “walked away with quite a few more than expected”. A few partners in attendance voiced how they were "reinvigorated" by what they saw planned in the PeopleSoft roadmap. Attendees shared that they “could not wait to get back and tell their clients about everything they can be taking advantage of” and that they “see tremendous opportunities” for their organization with regards to PeopleSoft. Partners were delighted Matt Lee (Group Sales Director – License Sales) from Oracle Digital presented at the “Engaging with Oracle” general session. Matt shared with partners how his team is focused on capturing license revenue and selling PeopleSoft as well as how to work with Oracle Digital during a PeopleSoft license sales opportunity. The Quest International Users Group also presented a general session. They spoke about how partners could work with them to better engage the PeopleSoft customer community and the benefits to the partners working with Quest. Quest manages the PeopleSoft Partner Community Basecamp, which is the virtual community for PeopleSoft partners. In addition to networking and participating in discussion forums relating to the PeopleSoft partner ecosystem, members of this free virtual community are invited to future webcasts delivered by Oracle and other on relevant PeopleSoft topics. The Quest PeopleSoft Partner Community Basecamp is how Oracle continues partner engagement throughout the year and in between in person PeopleSoft Partner Summits.
Not only was the event a win for partner but it was also a win for the PeopleSoft team. Partners provided the PeopleSoft team with great feedback on planned roadmap items, validation of the challenges organizations are facing, and an unique perspective on our joint PeopleSoft customers. All-in-all another fantastic PeopleSoft Partner Summit, I’m looking forward to the next one already.
