PeopleSoft Onboarding

By: Jeremy Pelley | Product Strategy Director

With the release of PeopleSoft HCM image 23 we released new functionality for our PeopleSoft core HCM users around onboarding.  Onboarding is a somewhat nebulous term and can often have different meanings to different people even within the same organization.  According to Wikipedia "Onboarding, also known as organizational socialization, refers to the mechanism through which new employees acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to become effective organizational members and insiders.".  So what does onboarding mean to us and what are we releasing?

First, as part of PeopleSoft's continuous delivery we are delivering onboarding functionality and building upon it in subsequent images.  The onboarding story starts with image 23, but does not end with image 23.  With image 23 we are releasing what we are terming "Day 1" onboarding.  These are the tasks that an employee needs to do once they have been hired to an organization and are often done over the first day to week of employment, although you certainly have the ability to take onboarding to any length of time that makes since for your organization. A video feature overview can be seen on the PeopleSoft YouTube channel or seen below

Over the next several images we will continue to build out the "Day 1" onboarding as well as bring increased functionality around other areas such as Pre-Boarding, Off Boarding, and Trans-Boarding.  As we continue to build out the onboarding functionality we rely on our customer advisory group, onboarding focus group, as well as information we receive from the PeopleSoft Idea's page.
