PeopleSoft Customer Advisory Boards Meet to Help Define Future Roadmap

It's been almost eight years since PeopleSoft was acquired by Oracle and our customer base and products are actively moving forward. Last week was an energizing one as we hosted all of our PeopleSoft CAB's at the Oracle Conference Center in Redwood Shores. Every room in the conference center was packed for three days of roadmap discussions, collaboration, and customer networking. Over 170 CAB members representing 90 organizations across the entire breadth of PeopleSoft products and industries were in attendance. The key focus of the three days was to discuss product investments for the PeopleSoft products over the next several years.
During the first half day general session, we reviewed the strategies that are driving both Oracle as a whole and the specific investments around PeopleSoft. Thomas Kurian, our EVP of Products and Technologies, outlined the overall Oracle direction around engineered systems, cloud strategy, and continued long term investment in PeopleSoft. Thomas went into great detail about our focus on engineered systems and how PeopleSoft specifically is leveraging the latest technology advancements in Exadata and Exalytics to tackle extremely complex business cases in areas such as PeopleSoft Financials. He also discussed PeopleSoft and Fusion Co-Existence, and our continued commitment to offer customer choice with both on premise and SaaS models.
Paco Aubrejuan, GVP and GM for PeopleSoft, set the stage for the rest of the three days as he highlighted the key focus areas for PeopleSoft including converence of tablets, PC's and phone platforms, consumerization of self service, collaboration and social networking, embedded business intelligence, and lifecycle management. This was supported by demonstrations from the PeopleSoft team around each of these areas throughout the rest of the morning, including new tablet and smart phone demos, and ever evolving user experience concepts. Paco also provided an interesting look at where the PeopleSoft business is at now that we are eight years on since the Oracle acquisition. As Mark Twain wrote, the rumours of our death were greatly exagerated in 2004. (Speaking personally, this year I've reached the milestone of being an Oracle employee longer than I was a PeopleSoft employee).
While much of the anticipation with customers is the upcoming PeopleSoft 9.2 release, our team has spent the last six months mapping out 9.2 Feature Packs and 9.3 plans and the underlying PeopleTools advancements that will enable this, such as adoption of HTML5 and higher degrees of configuration. That was the basis for the breakout sessions that absorbed everyone's attention for the rest of the three days. Each day also provided customers with an opportunity to tour the Oracle UE Lab and network. We were joined by our partners Infosys, Wipro, Smart ERP, Gray Heller, Zanett, and Mipro, who sponsored our evening networking reception.
At the end of three days, the overwhelming consensus from customers is that there's a lot to look forward to in the next eight years. HCM CAB Member and OHUG President, Carolyn Hayden-Garner, who represented CB Richard Ellis, summed it up this way: "Innovation has never been more evident in PeopleSoft".
