PeopleSoft’s HCM’s Company Directory is a powerful and easy to use “one-stop shop” for searching employee information and viewing the hierarchy and organizational structure, including direct reports, peers, managers, dotted line reports, and matrix team members. PeopleSoft Company Directory is completely Fluid based which means that your employees can use a mobile device and deploying this feature will align with your self-service modernization initiatives. Although the name of the feature is Company Directory, it is available for any organization to use including our public sector customers. PeopleSoft has had a Company Directory feature available now for several years, but it has never been as modern, flexible, or end-user feature rich as it is today.
Company Directory uses an Organization Chart Viewer (Org Chart) utility that provides an intuitive visualization of organizational relationships to help employees easily view and understand those relationships. The Org Chart displays three types of reporting relationships: Direct, Dotted-Line, and Matrix Teams depending upon which ones your organization uses. A Direct report represents a direct reporting relationship between a manager and an employee and can be viewed. A Dotted-Line report is typically a relationship between two employees, where one is a dotted line to another (i.e., a mentor or cross team contributor)which is represented in the Org Chart with a dotted line around the employee. Matrix Teams represent a group of employees that are on a cross organizational team or project (i.e., integrations team). For customers using Position Management, you can now visually display an empty position on the Org Chart.
Company Directory’s Org Chart viewer allows users to see the hierarchy reporting structure which includes direct and dotted line reporting structures. Clicking on the Company Directory tile in Self Service, an employee can search for any employee in the organization, update their own personal information, or enter a vacation request or a whole host of other HR related actions using the Related Actions navigation To simplify the manager’s life, he/she may even initiate job related actions like employee transfers or reviewing vacation requests using the same Related Actions navigation.
Having the ability to print, download, and/or export the org chart are popular features with employees and administrators.
Company Directory uses PeopleSoft’s Fluid technology allowing users to access their organization’s employee directory from any device – desktop, tablet and/or smartphone.
