Light Weight Lock Contention

After the IO effect had been removed the tests continued. Now able to focus on CPU related. As usual the quest is for finding where time flies by: either using the CPU or waiting for a resource.  When using higher loads the CPUs are not used to their fullest capacity: the processes must be waiting for resources.  Discarding network waits (it is here that commands come from) the next source are PostgreSQL its so called LWLocks.[Read More]

PostgreSQL performance study: introduction

While trying to improve the performance of PostgreSQL many tests are done. Currently the focus is on CPU related elements. In order to cleanup the picture some IO related optimizations were done.
