Temenos WealthManager is Optimized for Oracle SuperCluster

Temenos, a market leader for banking software, is always looking for ways to use innovation to improve banking for their customers. The benefits of using modern software are clear to them: customers are more agile, able to offer more personalized products and services, to operate at lower unit costs, to react quicker to market opportunities and to manage risk better. Temenos has grown its product set from core banking to payments, wealth management, business analytics and channels, offering a comprehensive solution set to meet the industry’s needs. It has more than 1,600 installations in over 150 countries.

WealthManager is an integrated Wealth Management Platform designed to simplify and improve the daily work of professionals who advise and serve private investors. Recently Temenos achieved Oracle SuperCluster Optimized status after testing and tuning WealthManager R13 on Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 with Oracle Solaris 11, Oracle Database 11g Release 2 and Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software 11g. They wanted to test the high scalability of WealthManager to enable rapid expansion of customer implementations and support the high-volume requirements of the largest banks while increasing customer satisfaction by meeting financial processing SLAs.

"A testament to WealthManager scalability is Oracle SuperCluster's ability to handle CPU & I/O intensive operations yielding throughput benefits that enable us to meet stringent Service level agreements" - Janet Julian, Product Manager, WealthManager, Temenos.

The results showed high intensity financial engines executing 2x-3x faster compared to previous benchmarks and their largest customer throughput, as well as less than 2s average response times for 3x users and data volumes.

Software in Silicon Innovations for Database

Juan Loaiza, Sr. VP of Technology at Oracle gave an overview of innovative new Software in Silicon technology and its benefits to databases and applications at Oracle OpenWorld 2014.

He talked about three key ways this new revolutionary technology enhances performance, capacity and reliability:

  • Extreme performance with DB in-memory acceleration engines
  • Increased data capacity with decompression engines
  • Revolutionary change to memory architecture that stops memory corruption, be it from malicious attacks or programmer errors

Please note: developers can take advantage of this revolutionary technology using the Oracle Software in Silicon Cloud today!

Real-time Analytics with MicroStrategy and Oracle

Oracle and MicroStrategy, a gold certified Oracle Partner, have been working closely on testing out the Oracle Database 12 in-memory option on the M6 SPARC server and Oracle Solaris.

Significant number of MicroStrategy customers use Oracle as their main database platform. With the introduction of the Oracle Database In-Memory Option, it is now possible to run real-time, ad-hoc, analytic queries on your business data as it exists right at this moment and receive results in sub-seconds. True real-tine analytics.

Powered by the new SPARC M6 processors, the SPARC M6-32 server is Oracle's big memory machine. With up to 32 terabytes of memory it delivers extreme performance for in-memory databases and business analytics applications.

Jochen Demuth, Director of Partner Engineering at MicroStrategy, discusses this work and how the combination of the MicroStrategy Analytics Platform using Oracle Database 12c In-memory option on Oracle M6 Big memory machines provides real-time analytics to customers in this video:

What happens when software moves into silicon?

On September 30, 2014 Oracle announced Oracle Software in Silicon Cloud which provides early access to revolutionary Software in Silicon technology that dramatically improves reliability and security, and accelerates application performance.

Oracle Software in Silicon Cloud provides developers a ready-to-run virtual machine environment to install, test, and improve their code in a robust and secure cloud platform powered by the revolutionary Software in Silicon technology in Oracle’s forthcoming SPARC M7 processor running Oracle Solaris.

Oracle Software in Silicon Cloud is available today and was introduced at Oracle OpenWorld by John Fowler in his keynote speech today. It is also featured in DEMOgrounds booth SC-170 in Moscone South.

“Oracle’s Software in Silicon technology in the SPARC M7 processor is the result of close co-engineering between our software and microprocessor teams and the benefits it will bring to customers are dramatic,” said John Fowler, executive vice president, Systems, Oracle. “With the Software in Silicon Cloud, developers can take advantage of this revolutionary technology, bulletproof their code, and develop and run databases and applications faster.”

One example of the great features of the SPARC M7 Software in Silicon technology is in-memory query acceleration of the Oracle Database. Read this blog to learn more.
