Oracle's guidance for feature uptake with this and any release is that you implement and/or roll them out after you have upgraded successfully. Announcing the Oracle Exadata X6

On April 5th Oracle released the newest Exadata Database Machine, the X6.   It comes with more performance, capacity, and availability, all at no extra cost.   

Exadata is fundamentally different and dramatically better than all-flash storage arrays and can achieve DRAM like performance with its combination of specialized software and the latest off the shelf hardware.  Something that no other platform can come close to.   Exadata can speed up business with Real-Time All-the-Time OLTP only possible with the unique Exadata software features.   And of course, all this is also available in the cloud making Exadata even more unique in the market.

The X6 release adds bigger and better flash, larger state of the art disk drives, faster InfiniBand to increase transaction speed, In-Memory fault tolerance, All-the-Time OLTP, and many more exciting new additions.

Exadata architecture is optimized to deliver better results for all types of databases.  There are many software features that have been added recently and we’re constantly adding specific optimizations.   The X6 is the latest exciting chapter in the outstanding Exadata story.
