Oracle Podcasts Still Going Strong
By blogsadmin on Aug 01, 2006
We're well past the first birthday of the Oracle TechCast podcast program at this point: the first show, with TopLink product manager Shaun Smith as guest to discuss EJB3, published on May 17, 2005. Since then, TechCast shows have been downloaded or clicked more than 125,000 times. (There are some pretty good AppCasts out there too, by the way.)
Thanks to our new crack production team, we plan to get more of these out to you and on a more regular basis. Last week alone we published two more shows, "Crawls and Keywords: Deploying Oracle Secure Enterprise Search on Oracle.com" and "Focus on Identity Management: Fine Grained Authorization", and more are upcoming in the near future. (Sorry, can't spoil any surprises here.)
Clearly iTunes support for podcasting was a major success factor. We were lucky in that the program launched just prior to this support occurring, and managed to attract some media attention in the process. And unless someone can correct me, Oracle was the first major company to publish podcasts from the floor of an event (OOW 2005).
So, you could say that podcasting is in our DNA.
