You never know what might happen in the OTN Lounge during Oracle OpenWorld -- except when you do. And this is one of those times.
In this case I'm referring to the Oracle Fusion Cloud Developer Challenge, open to all registered Oracle OpenWorld attendees. Here's how Richard Bingham, one of the Challenge organizers, describes it:
Similar to a hack-a-thon, this OpenWorld event asks you to construct a small custom application that meets a simple set of criteria. The difference is that rather than a speed coding challenge the focus here is to learn the basics hands-on, and then exercise your own creativity through whatever innovative application design you choose. Show off, learn, try – it’s all good.
Those who accept the challenge will design and build an application and integrate it with a live Fusion Applications instance using one of three simple WebService API's. Demos and samples will also be provided to help you in your quest.
What's in it for you, you ask? Fame, the adoration of scores of your fellow developers, and, if you come out on top, $500 in Amazon gift cards.
