OpenSolaris B105, Acer One, SDcard slots working

Hi All,

Still in Florida on vacation, I have my spare Acer One with me, Garrett D'Amore and Vincent Wang worked out the issues with the sdcard controllers.

I have a gnome desktop with two sdcards showing up a 16Gb and 4Gb.

I just did an Evolution backup to the 16Gb sdcard, it looks good.

I cannot get to my FTP server from here but I will post the package on January 5th when I get home.

Everything is now working on the Acer Aspire One.

Next, just got my hands on a Elonex WebBook, it has the VIA 1.6Ghz processor.

Happy New Year

Dave

Comments:

How's the performance on the Acer One? Does it still boot very slowly?

Also, would you able to try to install OpenSolaris into a USB HD and boot from it? Thanks.

Hi,

It's really good performance for a small machine, slow startup was zfs init and snapshot, it's fine now.

I've tested booting from USB stick, works fine.

Is it easy to update RAM? What's the maximum capacity? (I am interested in installing it into a WinXP host under Sun xVM VirtualBox.)

Also, on booting from USB stick, I have problem doing that with OpenSolaris 2008.11 RC1, but not with 2008.05.

What version (i.e., SXCE build number) did you install on the USB stick?

How did you get a web-book? They do not ship in Greece but do they ship in USA?

Hi All,

Sorry I'm in Florida on vacation, looks like my house (which has the lab) lost power during the snow and wind storms, I cannot reboot from here.

My Father how is in Florida on vacation from UK brought the WebBook with him.

I'm getting the Int13 grub bug during install I'll have to download and rebuild grub, then install on DVD.

Memory on the One is limited to 1Gb.
