MSI Wind Notebook and OpenSolaris B106

Hi All,

So I'm sitting here surfing the net on the MSI Netbook running OpenSolaris B106.

It's been a challenge to get OpenSolaris installed, I'll document tomorrow.

It's a pretty good 10 inch screened netbook for $367.

More tomorrow

Dave

I had to install an intel 3945abg wifi to ensure all OSes were supported. Can't get the ethernet to work but at least wifi works fine.

Only recent builds (103+) supported the intel graphics, previously we were stuck at vesa mode.

OpenSolaris sadly isn't on recent builds and so you have to install the drivers for the intel graphics from somewhere ...

I wonder if opensolaris/nevada supports things like slowing down the CPU and boosting it on demand to extend the battery life?

Hi,

My blog has video drivers that worked on B101+.

On the MSI mine says 10ec, 8136 for the ethernet from running scanpci, it should come up as rge0 if you svcadm enable nwam.

Yes, opensolaris has power management for the intel and amd chips that support it, /etc/power.conf.

I now have the ralink 2700e wifi running rwn driver from laptop community on www.opensolaris.org
