DELL E4300 and OpenSolaris B134

Hi All,

So I received my Oracle Dell E4300 laptop, the Oracle internal applications (which are awesome) work with Windows.

I did carve out a 60 Gb partition and installed OpenSolaris B134, it works great in 64 bit mode.

The Dell laptop is built really nice, I can push both Windows 7 and OpenSolaris out to a 22" Acer LCD at 1650 x 1050.

How's the networking, wired and wireless?
What about the screen? Does Compiz work?
Suspend and resume?

Hi All,

I switched out the Broadcom wifi for an Atheros one.

Ethernet was fine, video was fine with compiz, suspend / resume worked fine.

I could do the same thing with video you can on Windows 7, turn of the laptop LCD and just have an external turned on.

It's a really nice laptop, I have the 64 bit, 2.4 Ghz with 4Gb memory.

Cool. A lot of Dell's haven't been great for Opensolaris for a while as they moved to using more ATI GPUs.

I like the look of the new E6510. It has the Puma Peak 2x2 or 3x3 wifi which seems to be supported from build 128, and intel or NVidia graphics.
