What You Need to Know About Your Oracle Certification Logo

Logos are so yesterday!

Since the release of the first Oracle Certification, printable logos have been provided for every certification issued. With the advent of digital badges that provide a secure, verifiable, visual representation of your certification, printable logos are on their way out!

Logos provided to certified candidates as an image file are ripe for fraud.

The files can be shared, images can be copied from a digital visual and pasted to a non-certified person's website, resume (CV), email signature, or anywhere else candidates may display their certification. Digital badges provide a solution to this problem of individuals visually misrepresenting themselves as certified and bringing down the value of certification for all candidates.

Digital badges are portable, verifiable, and secure.

They also hold tremendous value in that they are backed by metadata that tells how a candidate earned a certification, when it was earned, if and when it expires, and the skills you can expect the certification holder to have. An added value for the certification holder is that they are able to see real time labor market insights - lists of jobs that are currently available for someone with their skill sets.

Metaphorically, certification logo images are a message in a bottle to communicate with counterparts across an ocean, while digital badges are video conferencing. Credly, on whose platform Oracle's digital badges are built says that digital badging is "what happens when old-fashioned paper certificates meet the modern labor market."

As of the beginning of this year, Oracle Certification is no longer creating new logos for new certifications. If you earn a certification for which logos were already being issued, you will continue to receive those logos for a little while.

We will soon stop issuing existing logos all together. At that time, candidates who received logos before the transition date will maintain access to their logos in CertView, but Oracle Certification logos will not continue to be updated with new, modern branding. You will maintain access to what was already issued before the transition date.

After the transition date, no logos will be issued at all.

But don't fret! We are working hard to update, refresh, and improve existing digital badges to make them more visually appealing with more valuable information on the badge. Stay tuned for more information on these awesome new badges!
