Oracle Commerce, ATG and Endeca - Which Training Should I Take?

by Jim Vonick, Oracle University Market Development Manager

Oracle Commerce Release 11 makes strategic headway in unifying and enhancing ATG and Endeca Commerce technologies. ATG and Endeca Commerce are the leading commerce, content and experience technologies on the market.

But what about available training?

Does it matter which courses you take if you're an Oracle Commerce 11, ATG Web Commerce or Endeca Commerce customer?

Take Oracle 11 Commerce Training

There is currently one course that's specifically developed for Oracle Commerce Release 11.

This course, Oracle Commerce: Managing Your Site Using Business Tools Rel 11, is ideal for business users. Training built specifically for Oracle Commerce 11 will continue to become available over the coming months.

Since Oracle Commerce combines ATG Web Commerce and Oracle Endeca Commerce, specific courses from the existing ATG and Endeca Commerce do apply to Oracle Commerce Rel 11 customers.

Oracle University has created a guide to help you select the best courses so you can simplify your Oracle Commerce 11 implementation or upgrade.

View the Oracle Commerce: A Guide to Select the Right Training.

Enroll in ATG and Endeca Training

If you're an ATG or Endeca customer, please note that all of the existing curriculum will maintain its current course titles. Since each course either includes "ATG" or "Endeca" in the title, this will give you some assurance that you're looking at the right courses.

ATG Web Commerce Courses

If you're implementing or upgrading to ATG Web Commerce Rel 10.1 or 10.2 (or even prior releases), we recommend that you attend the current ATG training. Please visit the ATG training page on the Oracle University website. From there, you'll see three job role categories from which you can select.

Select the job role that best identifies what you need to learn.

  • ATG Business Users
  • ATG Developers
  • ATG System Administrators

Endeca Commerce Courses

If you're implementing Endeca Commerce 3.1 or 3.1.2 and are interested in training, consider taking one of the existing Oracle Endeca Commerce courses. Training is available for:

  • Implementation Team Members
  • Developers
  • Business Users
Please feel free to leave comments or ask questions about any of these courses below. We welcome your feedback!

The Coolest Features Available with Oracle Hyperion – Are You Using Them?

Oracle Hyperion EPM brought many new enhancements that make it even easier to use.

We spoke to some of our Oracle University instructors to get their thoughts on which enhancements you’ll find most beneficial.  If you're not currently using these enhancements, now's the time to reap the benefits!

Hyperion Planning

    • Flexible Custom Dimensions allow you to manage members in dimensions distinctly by Plan Type if you desire; so the properties of Account “X” in Plan1 do not have to be the same as in Plan2. The Dimension Editor provides a drop-down to manage members by “All” Plan Types, or one specific plan at a time.
    • New Task List Types, such as Copy Version and Job Console, allow for easier navigation through the system.
    • Task List Dashboard and Report Page allow you to generate Gantt Charts, pie charts and other graphical representations and reports of the Task Lists based on more robust features like Task List Type, Assigned User and Due Dates.
Financial Data Quality Management Enterprise Edition
    • FDMEE integration with other source systems.
    • “Fish” icon retained – option to replace with custom icon now available.
    • You can have non-contiguous periods in multi-load files.
    • Custom Scripts are now an option; Custom Scripts are mainly used to perform tasks like importing data into auxiliary tables, copying files, sending an email from FDMEE, etc.
    • FDMEE now supports loading ICP transactions into ICT Module.
    • Ability to validate target members from mapping tables.
    Data Relationship Management
    • The Data Governance functionality, now covered in this course, allows a broad group of people to "propose" changes to hierarchies and go through a process of reviewing, checking and approving changes.
    • Dynamic Scripting - you can now choose between traditional formula expressions using DRM native functions, or developing java script formulas for derived properties and validation rules in DRM.
    Financial Reporting
    • The new print engine that does not require a 3rd party PDF generator product like Adobe or GhostScript.
    • Users now have the ability to format annotation text.
    Hyperion Financial Management
    • Select members from drop-down list in Data Forms.
    • Open data grids in Smart View.
    • Improvements to the POV: POV settings are now “sticky.” Reorder and hide dimensions in the POV bar for grids and forms. Define which dimension follow user POV in grids.

Oracle University now offers courses for Oracle Hyperion EPM to help you make the most of these new features:

    •    Oracle Hyperion Planning 11.1.2: Create & Manage Applications (
    •    Oracle Hyperion Financial Mgmt 11.1.2: Create & Manage Applications (

DBA and Developer Guide to MySQL

Written by Diana Gray, Principal Curriculum Product Manager, Oracle University

MySQL is the most trusted and depended-on open source database platform in use today. 9 out of the 10 most popular and highly-trafficked websites in the world rely on MySQL, primarily due to its ubiquity across heterogeneous platform and application stacks.

MySQL is well-known for its performance, reliability and ease of use. MySQL 5.6 builds on the momentum by delivering across the board improvements that enable innovative DBA and developers to create and deploy the next generation of web, embedded and Cloud/SaaS/DaaS applications on the latest generation of development frameworks and hardware platforms.

Building the Next Generation of Web Applications and Services

At a glance, MySQL 5.6 is simply a better MySQL, with improvements that enhance every functional area of the database kernel, including:

    • Improved InnoDB storage engine for better transactional throughput.
    • Improved Optimizer for better query execution times and diagnostics.
    • Better application availability with online DDL/schema changes.
    • Better developer agility with NoSQL Access, with Memcached API to InnoDB.
    • Improved replication for high performance, self-healing distributed deployments.
    • Improved security for worry-free application deployments.
    • Improved performance schema for better instrumentation.
MySQL Course and Certification Exam Releases

The MySQL for Database Administrator and MySQL for Developers course releases are aligned with newly GA release of MySQL 5.6 Developer and MySQL 5.6 Database Administrator OCP certification exams.

Invest in hands-on training and study to pass certification exams that will validate your expertise.
