Need a Smooth Implementation? Try Oracle Fusion Applications Training

Oracle Fusion Applications Training

There’s quite a bit of discussion about when and why you should migrate business applications to the cloud or select applications that are available via the cloud. The business case for doing so is quite compelling, as you have the potential to increase business agility, save money and deliver enhanced value.

Forrester's James Staten cautions, however, that “Apps in the cloud need to be adapted to the cloud – not the other way around.”

In other words, don’t just migrate an application to the cloud, as performance and availability may suffer.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Application Implementation Training

This is where Oracle’s Fusion Applications fit nicely. This is the first enterprise applications suite that supports on-premise, “private cloud” (dedicated hosted environment) and “public cloud” (shared software as a service) implementations, allowing you to choose where to deploy your applications.

When it comes time to enable your Fusion Applications in either a ‘private’ or ‘public’ cloud, Oracle's Fusion Applications Implementation Training helps to ensure a smooth and rapid implementation. This hands-on, interactive training will help you understand the foundation and configuration options to make informed decisions during your Fusion Applications setup.

Who Should be Trained on Fusion Cloud Application Implementation?

Super users and security managers are certainly candidates for Fusion Applications cloud implementation training; however, Configuration or Functional Implementers are the primary candidates for implementation training for a specific application. Ideally, configuration implementers are dedicated business users who will manage the implementation project for a specific application. These dedicated business users need to understand the business requirements associated with setting-up the application.

Implementation Consultants, who are often employed by Oracle partners that provide implementation services, are also prime candidates for training.

Which Cloud Implementation Training is Available?

Implementation training is available for the key applications across the entire Oracle Fusion Applications suite, including:

  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Financials
  • Human Capital Management
  • Procurement
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Project Portfolio Management

View available Fusion Applications implementation training by product area now to learn more.

You can also watch a short video that provides an overview of Oracle Fusion Applications training.

Are You Ready for the Brave New Cloud World?

Cloud computing is being embraced by more organizations worldwide, both large and small.  As growth predictions emerge, we're seeing a clearer picture about what the near future of IT will look like.

•   Market Trends says that Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud-based business application services will grow from $13.4 billion in 2011 to $32.2 billion in 2016, a five-year CAGR of 19.1%.

•    Gartner is predicting Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), cloud management & security devices and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) are growing from $7.6B in 2011 to $35.5B in 2016, a CAGR of 36%.

Impact of Cloud on Jobs

Despite this tremendous growth, finding IT professionals with the right skills is proving to be a challenge for hiring managers. Here are some more stats to wrap your head around:

According to IDC:

- “Cloud-related skills represent virtually all of the growth opportunities in IT worldwide and will grow by 26% annually through 2015.”

- “ …IT managers consistently report that while the  economy represents a challenge to filling cloud-related positions, finding applicants with the appropriate expertise, certification or training is a much bigger issue.”

So even though you might not feel an immediate need to become a cloud expert, given these trends, it's a good idea to start thinking about developing skills that will be in demand in the near future.

Developing Cloud-Ready Skills

So which skill areas do you need to develop to position yourself for success in this brave new cloud world?

•   Enterprise architecture – Becoming an expert to drive the design and implementation for the cloud solution will be a must.

•   Application development – In a cloud world, this means knowing how to build high performing, cloud-enabled applications that can be accessed from anywhere, at any time.

•   System administration – This role is definitely not going away, but it's definitely evolving from its traditional sense. The new focus will be on network, OS, virtualization and application administration.

•    Network security – Security is named as one of the top concerns with cloud. Securing the cloud network will be a key area where resources will be required.

•    Data integration and analysis – Cloud is helping to create a data explosion that requires expertise in designing and managing analytical systems and processes that have big data in mind.

•    Project management - Given the complexity that comes with cloud transformations, possessing solid project management skills will be critical.

Is Oracle Cloud on Your Horizon?

If your organization is considering a transition to Oracle Cloud products or services, then it would be logical to consider training for Java development and architecture, OS administration and virtualization, to name a few. We also recommend exploring training on Oracle's cloud technology to give yourself an edge in an ever-changing IT marketplace.

Which Skills Are Critical for the Cloud-Enabled World?

In the face of all of these changes, which other skills are essential for organizations to have on staff to support a successful cloud transformation?

Let us know what you think in the comments below.

The Digital Learning Transformation

Did you know that today’s average college grads have spent less than 5,000 hours of their lives reading, but over 10,000 hours playing video games (not to mention 20,000 hours watching TV).*

I think we all know that the world around us has changed and how we consume information and spend our time has changed.  It feels like I hear about this every day, but seeing stats like this really puts it all into perspective for me. Today’s world revolves around technology.

Dewey Decimal What?

Generation Y has grown up with the ability to access an unlimited supply of information with just the click of a button. Makes me a bit jealous.  The concept of going to the library, searching through a card catalog to locate a book and then combing through it to get the answer you're looking for sounds insane in 2013, doesn’t it? New information needs to be obtained at the right time in the quickest way possible. Even though Gen Y might be a driving force behind this change, they are not alone. Technology is moving so fast that we are forced to keep up or get left behind.

From Bricks to Clicks

No matter what generation you are in, you likely grew up learning in a brick and mortar classroom. There is something about classroom learning that has been hard to capture in a digital form. The early forms of e-learning were lacking the “special sauce” of social interaction that is core to the classroom learning experience.  With the rise of social networking tools and technology, we're at a point where new forms of digital learning are becoming available that will help students access interactive learning in real-time, without having to sacrifice anything.

The Shift to On Demand Digital Learning

Oracle University has been offering  Live Virtual Class (LVC) Training for several years now. Students often times seem reluctant to take a Live Virtual Class, but once they try it, they are hooked (I am not just saying that – our student evaluations are great proof of this). However, LVC training isn’t for everyone. You still need to allocate the time in your schedule to take the course online for duration of the class. That's why we launched Training On Demand which includes a video recording of a classroom course that you can start, pause, fast forward and replay as needed. You can even search the course for specific topics. It lets you learn on your own time, gives you options to interact with instructors and lets you access labs for hands-on practice on-the-go via a mobile device, or from your desktop.

Tell Us What You Think

We are getting a lot of positive feedback on Training on Demand as a new way to learn. Take a closer look and check out the demo, along with some of the course previews, and tell us what you think. What other suggestions do you have for making our learning more accessible?
