If you’re a software developer, you may be aware that this year Java turns 25, making it one of the more established, mature programming languages in the world. This amounts to a huge community of nearly 10 million developers worldwide, and endless support documentation that has cumulated over the years.
This year Java continues to shine as one of the top 5 most popular technologies, attracting many talented young software developers who seek well-paying positions that can offer stability and growth potential. Glassdoor ranks Java developers as one of the highest paying entry-level positions in the industry. This is an accurate reflection of the ever-growing need for real-world developers who will pioneer our journey into the future of robotics. Indeed, it will be Java developers who will need to confirm robotic adherence to the Three Laws of Robotics not too far down the road…
One of the best ways to secure Java skills that will pave your professional path is by becoming Oracle Certified Professional (OCP). Becoming a Java OCP offers several benefits no other Java learning service offers:
Previously, certification candidates were required to pass both Java 1Z0-815 and Java 1Z0-816 exams. Each exam was 180 minutes with 80 questions. Oracle University is now offering a single consolidated certification exam for becoming an OCP in Java SE 11: Java exam 1Z0-819, a single 90-minute exam with 50 questions.
This consolidation is the result of careful consideration and collaboration within the certification team. While we want the exam to be user-friendly, easy to access and navigate, we did not want to compromise on the rigor of the exam or the skills expected of an OCP. We made efforts to ensure that the 1Z0-819 exam questions will be just as challenging as the previous exam versions. Most topics remain from exams 1Z0-815 and 1Z0-816, and similar topics were consolidated. If you have prepared well for exams 1Z0-815 and 1Z0-816, you should be prepared for exam 1Z0-819. For added flexibility, you can take the exam remotely; no need to arrive at an exam center.
Oracle University’s Java Learning Subscription offers very helpful resources. This includes courses for both beginner and experienced developers where lectures and labs examine topics you should know. The subscription also includes exam preparation resources where you can attempt and analyze questions that are written in a similar style as what you will likely encounter on the exam. These questions were developed by Oracle Java experts. You’ll be provided a deep analysis of how individual questions were designed, study advice, and tips for approaching questions.
Here are a few of the learning paths that may interest you and help you prepare for your exam:
Java Learning Explorer – a free entry-level training program introducing the fundamental principles of Java. This training program is designed for novice programmers or Java developers looking to start their path to Java SE certification.
