Let’s get the suspense out of the way: one thing that will make or break your ERP cloud adoption is whether or not users embrace the new technology.  

You see, when we talk about successful cloud implementations, it’s critical that we talk about the importance of ensuring users commit to the change that leads to successful digital adoption.

Once we prioritize the idea of addressing users’ needs and preferences in the implementation process, developing an approach to win them over becomes simpler. With this in mind, let’s look at some recommendations your organization should consider to ensure your users adopt your new ERP Cloud.

Whether or not your users express it, your ability to answer one question to their satisfaction will affect their attitudes toward change. They want to know, “What are the reasons for the change?” Or more concisely - “Why?” 

This question is a very powerful motivator for most people, as they take on different endeavors. The need to know, to see the benefits, and to understand the big picture – these are natural human desires that allow us to stay in control of our conditions. 

Sharing the “why” with your employees is the first and most important step in inviting them to be curious and proactive about new cloud software. Intelligent, in-depth communication that goes beyond “it’s time to migrate to the cloud” or “integration reasons” will show your future ERP Cloud users that you trust them, you see them as partners in the process, and are committed to helping them understand how the change will affect them.

Even with the efficiencies that come with a cloud solution, ERP platforms are considered to be among the more complex software suites out there. They have to be, in order to fulfill their purposes – planning expenses, budget control, double entry bookkeeping, vendor management, and more. 

In many cases, the preparation for implementing Oracle ERP Cloud requires detailed documentation of processes and workflows to account for different roles and user groups. In order for the platform to fit the organization’s needs like a glove, system analysts will need to collect as much information as possible in advance. User interviews should be held to better understand end-users’ roles; supporting data must be analyzed to see which features are most beneficial; and comprehensive user journeys will need to be mapped out to ensure that the user experience is aligned and that features are prioritized.

Decoding what makes change management successful or not is still one of the industry’s most discussed topics. One thing remains clear: employees need to be empowered to embrace the change through transparency, tailored solution requirements, training and enablement, and leadership commitment.  A well-planned ERP Cloud implementation that includes these considerations can help make – not break – your ERP Cloud adoption.
