What’s new in the 2023 version of the Certification and the course?

While the core responsibilities of a DevOps engineer have remained relatively consistent over the past year, the landscape of available tools and technologies has evolved. The OCI 2023 DevOps Professional learning path has been updated to incorporate the newest and most advanced features offered by OCI. These additions encompass a wide range of topics, ensuring that you stay up to date with the latest services and features, including: 

• Container Instances: OCI Container Instances enables you to easily run applications on serverless compute optimized for containers.
• Serverless OKE: Virtual Nodes, introduced in Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE, offer a serverless Kubernetes experience, enabling seamless management of Kubernetes operations at any scale, eliminating the need for infrastructure management).
• OKE add-on lifecycle management: With the new OKE add-on lifecycle management feature, you can delegate the management of common cluster operational software to Oracle, allowing for a more streamlined experience. Additionally, this functionality offers advanced users the flexibility to customize add-ons or choose alternative software options that align with their specific requirements.
• OCI DevOps: Deployment Strategies: OCI DevOps deployment pipelines provide DevOps teams with the flexibility to choose between various deployment strategies, including Blue-Green deployments and Canary deployments. These strategies empower administrators to carefully assess the risk and impact of deploying new releases while considering the necessary infrastructure requirements. By leveraging these deployment strategies, organizations can effectively balance the trade-offs associated with releasing new features and ensure a seamless transition to the production environment.
• DevSecOps: Best practices: Users can implement DevSecOps best practices with OCI to enhance security in your DevOps workflow. They can leverage features like secure identity management, key management, and container security for a robust and resilient application development and deployment process. We have completely revamped our DevSecOps module to focus on these services. 
• Application Dependency Management: We have added a new module on how to incorporate Application Dependency Management (ADM) in your DevOps pipelines. ADM proactively identifies security vulnerabilities in application dependencies, ensuring a secure software development process.

In addition to these new service/feature lessons, we have made several other key changes:

1. Microlessons and more demos: The modules have been revamped to offer microlessons, ensuring shorter and easily comprehensible segments. Additionally, more demos have been incorporated throughout these modules, which will help you understand concepts better.

2. New Hands-on lab exercises: To further enhance your practical skills, 10 new hands-on lab exercises have been introduced in the course. These labs cover key concepts from each module. Additionally, a comprehensive student activity guide has been provided with step-by-step instructions for hands-on learning.

3. Revised skill checks: The skill checks accompanying each module have undergone an update, featuring a new set of questions. Moreover, to enhance your understanding, the rationale behind each correct answer is now provided, offering insights into the concepts covered. 

4. Practice exam with real exam-like questions: As part of the updates, a brand-new practice exam has been introduced. This practice exam is designed to closely simulate the format and content of the actual certification exam, consisting of 30 questions that mirror the complexity and style of the real exam. This allows candidates to gauge their readiness and identify areas for improvement, ensuring they are well prepared to confidently take on the certification exam.

5. Expert tips for continuous learning: To foster continuous learning and keep you motivated throughout the course, we have included expert tips at the end of specific modules. These tips offer practical advice, additional context, and proven strategies that can further enhance your learning journey. By incorporating these expert tips, we aim to provide you with valuable perspectives that go beyond the core content, empowering you to deepen your understanding and excel in your DevOps professional endeavors.

6. Updated certification exam pattern: The certification exam has undergone an update to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of your DevOps skills. The new format consists of 55 questions; the duration of the exam remains at 90 minutes, allowing sufficient time to carefully answer each question. Additionally, the pass percentage has been set at 65%, ensuring a fair assessment of your proficiency in DevOps principles and practices. These changes in the certification exam format aim to accurately measure your capabilities and validate your OCI DevOps skills.
