The Oracle Expert Summit is being held in Cancun, Mexico and provides the ideal opportunity to learn directly from top Oracle Database experts – including Tom Kyte, Pete Finnigan and Arup Nanda – and to interact with like-minded Oracle professionals.
Attend three days of training, choosing from six expert-led sessions.
Here are a few of the sessions you will not want to miss:
Optimizer Master Class with Tom Kyte
This workshop begins with an in-depth look at statistics and statistics maintenance, a challenge all DBAs must face to prevent sub-optimal execution plan. This presentation includes information about the features introduced in Oracle Database 11g to improve the quality and efficiency of statistics gathering, as well as strategies for managing statistics in various database environments. These strategies include how to use dynamic sampling, as well as when and how to manually set statistics directly versus collecting them.
The workshop continues with a detailed walk-through of how to interpret an execution plan. Each aspect of an execution plan is examined, from cardinality estimates to parallel execution. You will learn which information you should be gleaning from the plan and how it affects the execution.
Oracle Database Security Audit with Pete Finnigan
Learn from the renowned security assessment expert for Oracle Database. This seminar teaches you how to confidently perform a security audit of the Oracle Database. Pete will explain how to avoid the security risk of an improperly configured Oracle Database. He will show you how a security audit is planned, teaching you how to prepare yourself, your staff and your environment.
Explore the fundamentals of how to review a database, along with an explanation about why it's necessary. This will help you understand why something is an issue, how to verify that it's an issue and understand the implications on your own databases and applications before using pre-built or commercial tools. The seminar uses supported versions of Oracle from 9iR2 through Oracle 11g.
Performance Tuning in RAC with Arup Nanda
The foundation of any tuning depends heavily on the proper diagnosis - therefore this seminar will start with building your knowledge about the RAC system with respect to performance. All concepts will be shown with live examples and real-life stories from Arup Nanda's experience.
You will learn how to assess the performance using various tools and techniques available in Oracle and how to use the output to develop a strategy to handle performance issues. The focal point is on the word "strategy", as the seminar helps you master the art of the strategy building based on evidence collected; not just a blind shot at the problem using various ad-hoc approaches.
