Get Inside the Cloud Application Foundation

By Ruma Sanyal

Four Essential Sessions

Cloud enablement remains an important focus at Oracle OpenWorld, especially middleware infrastructure products that provide the application foundation for your cloud—application server, data grid, and JVM—with more than 30 sessions, 10 demo pods, and 8 hands-on labs to choose from. Can't make it to everything? Start by focusing on these four essential sessions:

  • The Oracle Fusion Middleware Application Server Roadmap—Building a Cloud Application Foundation (Session 15560)
    Monday, Oct. 3, 5:00 p.m.—Moscone South 306
We kick things off with a roadmap session for attendees who want to know how Oracle is evolving the middleware infrastructure.
  • Java EE and the Cloud (Session 32540)
    Monday, Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m.—Marriott Marquis, Salon 7
In this Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF) session we will discuss the present and future of Java EE as a cloud-enabling platform.
  • Which Cloud Computing Approach Is Right for You? (Session 15198)
    Wednesday, Oct. 5, 10:00 a.m.—Moscone South 306
Discover real-world examples and practical advice on when, how, and why to move to the cloud and learn about architectural and operational considerations for private clouds, how to support a cloud implementation, customer success stories, and more.
  • Cloud-Enabled Java Persistence with Oracle TopLink (Session15615)
    Thursday, Oct. 6, 10:30 a.m.—Marriott Marquis, Salon 7
This session will examine the persistence requirements of Java applications in the cloud—support for massive scale-out and caching, multitenancy, extensibility, and dynamic provisioning—and introduce the features of Oracle TopLink that address them.
