Sneak Peek: Business-Driven IT Management

Q&A with Leng Tan on Oracle Enterprise Manager at Oracle OpenWorld
We sat down with Leng Tan, vice president of product development for Oracle Enterprise Manager, to get her take on this year's conference.
Blog Staff: Leng, what are you looking forward to most at this year's Oracle OpenWorld?
Tan: At this year's Oracle OpenWorld, we're all about business-driven IT management. As you know, we launched the new release Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g last April, and with it we have introduced new management capabilities unique to Oracle solutions and Oracle Enterprise Manager. We will be showing demos of the product, and will offer drill-down technical sessions, numerous hands-on sessions, and more. If you care about IT operations and management, you should stop by one of our activities and see how Oracle Enterprise Manager can help you.
Blog Staff: Can you give us a sneak peek of your general session on Business-Driven IT Management?
Tan: Business-Driven IT Management is a business concept truly unique to Oracle. I'll spend a few minutes describing what it is and how customers will benefit from it. For example, if you plan to upgrade to Oracle Database 11g or Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1, or if you want to improve your patch management capabilities across all of your Oracle technology solutions, we have the answers for you. My favorite part of the presentation is the unveiling of a very exciting solution--the result of a key partnership. I can't talk about it now but it will be a game-changer in its part of the industry.
Lastly, I would like to leave our customers with a glimpse into some of our key new technology projects. All in all, you will see how Oracle is putting its weight behind Oracle Enterprise Manager to provide the industry's best management solution for the red stack--from applications to disk.
Blog Staff: Given this year's theme--See. Learn. Meet.--what advice would you give attendees?
Tan: This year's Oracle OpenWorld will cover new technologies across the entire Oracle product stack, and Oracle Enterprise Manager will present management technologies across that same stack. Make sure to spend time at the Oracle DEMOgrounds and don't miss the opportunity to talk to our experts and get ideas for your new IT projects. And come see my colleague Ali Siddiqui's session on Business Transaction Management, which previews some of the new capabilities Oracle Enterprise Manager brings to the table for middleware management.
Blog Staff: For those who can't attend, how can they learn about new Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g content?
Tan: It would be very hard to beat attending Oracle OpenWorld! But we are doing our best to provide as much information to those who can't attend. I invite everyone to go to our resource center at www.oracle.com/enterprisemanager11g to learn about the new product, watch videos, download white papers, and learn about upcoming physical and virtual events.
Be sure to catch all the demos, hands-on labs, and sessions by downloading the Oracle OpenWorld Focus On Enterprise Manager schedule today.
