Does the World Need Another Cloud Study?

Hackett Group Surveys Line of Business and IT to Analyze Cloud Adoption
All but the biggest IT junkies probably have read enough on cloud adoption. Studies have been published by the leading IT industry analysts and every vendor on the planet. So why, in their infinite wisdom, did the Hackett Group conduct yet another cloud study? And why did Oracle invite customers to participate in the Hackett study?
Certainly NOT because inquiring minds want to know. Oracle's and Hackett's interest in this study was to quantify and measure the business benefits of cloud adoption. Rather than a subjective or theoretical study, the Hackett Group report is based on an empirical survey of current practices. The study's findings shed light on the following:
-Cloud computing perceptions, strategies, and adoption levels
-Potential business risks
-Potential business value drivers and value realization
-Differences between IT and line of business perspectives
Well, the results are in, and what better place to go to learn more about the cloud than Oracle OpenWorld?
Specifically, Honorio Padron, IT practice director from the Hackett Group, will present the findings of their recent study on cloud adoption. Who are the movers and shakers, the early adopters to cloud solutions, and what are they putting in the cloud? How much faster is the time to benefit? How much cost savings or financial benefits have they received? What are the implications for decision-makers plotting their own company's cloud strategy? Honorio coauthored an Executive Insight on cloud sourcing, pointing out that cloud offers a key enabler for business agility and flexibility.
Joining Honorio is Nathan Scott, an Oracle On Demand customer from the New Zealand Post, who will provide a case study of one firm's cloud strategy and results from early adoption. The New Zealand Post is not a newspaper; it's the country's postal service. But they own a bank and a courier service and a logistics company. Marc Fiedler, Oracle On Demand VP of Product Management, will introduce the speakers.
