More Programming. New Social Media Coverage. It's Almost Like Being There in Person.
By Tom Caldecott
What do a robotic fish, LEGOs, Walmart, Progressive Insurance (without Flo), backstage at Moscone North Hall D, Sean D. Tucker, remote cameras, and social media have in common?
They’re all part of this year’s enhanced Oracle OpenWorld
Live. Anchor Rich Schwerin is joined by eight new hosts, covering 32 live segments and featuring up to 64 Oracle customers, in addition to the live feeds of all the keynotes and general sessions from Moscone North Hall D.
New to this year’s programming is a social media component. According to Schwerin, “We have dedicated social correspondent Chanel Bujadham on set, on camera for every segment. Chanel will be inviting the audience to participate via social live using the hashtag #oow13live.”
Another addition is a remote camera and reporter in the field, Jeff Erickson. “Jeff will be providing live interviews with customers and Oracle representatives around the Oracle OpenWorld sites as well as live and recorded features throughout the viewing day, including a backstage look at what it takes to put on Oracle OpenWorld,” says Schwerin.
This year’s hosts include Aaron Lazenby of Profit
magazine, Tom Haunert of Oracle Magazine
, Caroline Kvitka of Java Magazine
, Alex Wolfe and John Foley, Oracle staff members and writers for OracleVoice on Forbes.com
, Carol Sato from Global Customer Programs at Oracle, and Rick Ramsey from the Systems Community at Oracle.
What can you look forward to in terms of topics? Here are a few:
· Interviews with industry and thought leaders
· Customer interviews including how toymaker The LEGO Group uses social media, what Walmart is doing in terms of sustainability, and how Progressive Insurance is using Oracle Linux
· A showcase of Java applications such as a robotic fish and dog, and home automation solutions
· An interview with Team Oracle pilot Sean D. Tucker on extreme flying and mountaineering, as well as the Young Eagles, a program to introduce young people to aviation
And much more.
Oracle OpenWorld Live can be viewed on Oracle.com throughout the week during conference hours.
