The Driving Force of Talent Integration

Oracle Consulting has been seeing a strong push recently to integrate talent management data across multiple talent modules as well as multiple systems. A key driver in this push has been Oracle's recent release of the PeopleSoft HCM 8.9/9.0 to 9.1 talent integrations. These integrations provide the ability to keep Core HR data on an older version of HCM while running talent applications on the latest 9.1 release. Not only has this release been a catalyst for increased interest in the delivered Talent Management Integrations, it has brought to light what is possible using Oracle integration technologies. This increased awareness is inspiring our customers to move forward with a number of integration initiatives. What is the driving force behind the release of these integrations and what is the greatest benefit of this approach?

Within Oracle Consulting's Talent Management Center of Excellence, I have been seeing a number of organizations that work with Oracle's Talent Management Integration Lab express a strong desire to utilize the social features and enhanced self-service usability being provided in the PeopleSoft 9.1/PeopleTools 8.50 products; however, due to perhaps a heavily customized Core HR system or lack of immediate funding, it is not cost-efficient to perform a full product upgrade at this time. The desire to take on the latest talent and social functionality is also usually combined with an initiative to consolidate and unify on a single ERP for HCM and Talent Management. The reason for this consolidated approach is lower cost-of-ownership from an implementation as well as support perspective. Having a unified ERP which is able to integrate out of the box to existing implementations is one of the main reasons we are seeing an ever increasing number of talent integrations being utilized by Oracle customers.

The greatest benefit of an integrated solution is the flexibility that it provides. The application of bundles or feature packs to your talent applications no longer requires regression testing of Core HR or Payroll. Enterprise Learning Management (ELM) customers have recognized this benefit for years and many have upgraded to the latest release of ELM while staying on their existing version of HCM. An integrated and unified talent environment allows you to experience the latest features on the most widely-used enterprise applications while keeping your Core HR system stable.
