Oracle HCM Cloud Customer Q&A with the National Marrow Donor Program

Guest Author

At this year's Oracle HCM User Group (OHUG) Global conference, we had the opportunity to sit down with Oracle HCM Cloud customers for a short Q&A. We got to hear about what brought them to the OHUG conference, some of the benefits they are receiving from their Oracle HCM Cloud solutions, and advice they would give other businesses looking to move to the cloud.

Below is the discussion we had with Tiffany Lyons, Senior HR Technology & Process Analyst at the National Marrow Donor Program.

Q: What made you attend the OHUG Global Conference this year?

Lyons: The new addition of Oracle HCM Cloud Midsize (formerly Taleo Business Edition) sessions sealed the deal for this year's conference. I love connecting with other users and the Product Managers. We're a mature user of Oracle HCM Cloud Midsize so we can provide a lot of helpful tips to new customers. However, the new users remind me of enhancements that have been released throughout the year that we may have not implemented due to timing. So far, I've come away with pages of ideas and networking contacts!

Q: What Oracle HCM solutions are you currently using?

Lyons: We are utilizing Oracle HCM Cloud Midsize for recruiting, onboarding, and performance. All of our talent acquisition processes, onboarding and offboarding activities, performance reviews and goal planning are completed within Oracle.

Q: What would you say is the most significant benefit you've realized from your use of Oracle HCM solutions?

Lyons: Oracle provided our organization the capability to shift our resources to a more strategic approach. We now focus more effort on initiatives that push our organization forward, rather than using resources for chasing paper.

Q: What advice would you give an organization looking to move their HR systems to the cloud?

Lyons: It is crucial to consider your business requirements, now and in the future. A key for us was to review how configurable the solution would be. We wanted to shift some of our processes to a best-practice approach, but didn't want to lose our culture. We needed a solution that would bridge that gap, so we could move toward something new without disrupting our employee engagement. I would also add that it is important to understand the relationship with your vendor. We are looking for a partnership and that means being comfortable with the service level agreement and the individuals you will work with. Lastly, a secure system is vital to any organization. Our organization could not move forward with any application that would put any of our data at risk.

Thanks for the tips Tiffany. Enjoy the rest of the conference!
