Oracle has delivered a wealth of technology innovation through the Oracle Solaris 11.4 OS since its release, through its  Continuous Delivery Model. At the time of this writing, there have been 20 monthly Support Repository Updates (SRUs) delivered to date, with more than 380 security fixes, and more than 510 enhancements to Oracle Solaris 11.4 features, including updates to many popular open source software components. As described in a previous blog post - an update on Oracle Solaris and SPARC infrastructure, still a great summary of the key advantages of our technology - Oracle is committed to supporting our Oracle Solaris customers until at least 2034, as shown in this official document. For up to date information on Oracle Solaris, please check our blog.

For a great summary and a couple of demonstrations of the consistency, security and simplicity of the Oracle Solaris 11.4 OS, check our latest Virtual Seminar. It is important for customers that have not yet made the transition to the Oracle Solaris 11.4 OS to plan for it as soon as they are able to, in order to benefit from the latest security and manageability features that Oracle Solaris has to offer. In addition, please note that, although Oracle continued to provide updates for Oracle Solaris 11.3 for a long time after the release of the current version, the updates for the 11.3 version are scheduled to stop in the near future. Check the My Oracle Support document on Oracle Solaris 11.3 Support (Doc ID 2382427.1) for the latest plans.

Oracle SPARC products continue to lead the industry in security, features, and performance. For instance, Oracle has demonstrated that SPARC M8, T8 and S7 systems can run encrypted database and Java workloads without performance overhead, while offering the best per-core performance for critical Java operations compared with competitors. Fujitsu SPARC products continue to advance as well, and Fujitsu offers here the latest information on their roadmap for enhancements.

Oracle Solaris, Oracle SPARC, and Fujitsu SPARC systems offer the best security and investment protection for customers looking at long term, low risk solutions for business critical deployments.
