Session Details

I. Project Crossbow - Network virtualization

Project crossbow is a revolutionary network virtualization project. It completes the virtualization stack within the Solaris OS. We will explain and demonstrate :

  • Crossbow overview, advantages and benefits
  • How to create and manage VNICs
  • How to create and manage etherstubs - virtualized networks (even w/o a physical network)
  • How to enable bandwidth and resource control (control bandwidth, assign CPUs, enable flows)
  • How to combine network virtualization with existing server virtualization
II. Overview of the two new releases
  1. What's new in Solaris 10 10/09 (Update 8)
  2. OpenSolaris 2010.03 preview with ZFS deduplication
