Sun Sets New World-Record With Latest Storage Mark

Sun Offers Fastest, Lowest Cost Systems with New World-Record Setting HDS Technology

This week, Sun, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), and HP released benchmarking data for its USP-V technology that showed scheeching performance in the enterprise Storage system category. Sun Microsystems resells the HDS USP V technology in the market-leading Sun StorageTek(TM) 9990V storage system.

“The Sun and HDS performance engineering teams work together closely on an ongoing basis to ensure that the products we jointly bring to market meet or exceed our customers' requirements,” said Jason Schaffer, Director, Primary Storage Business, Sun Microsystems, Inc. “Sun applauds Hitachi Data Systems on this SPC-1 result and we are pleased to work with HDS to deliver market leading enterprise storage to customers."

Results show that Sun is over 60% faster than IBM 8300 storage system and that Sun offers a lower price point than our competitors on this fast technology.
