Sun and NSA open community project to drive security for OpenSolaris

OpenSolarisThis morning Sun and The United States' National Security Agency (NSA) announced an agreement to jointly work on an open source project within the OpenSolaris community to integrate an additional form of mandatory access control (MAC) based on the NSA's Flux Advanced Security Kernel (FLASK) architecture into OpenSolaris.

The original project proposal and feedback can be found on the opensolaris-security-discuss mailing list. The project now has a page and separate discussion list set up.

Barton George (FOSS Community Evangalist) met up with Mark Thacker (marketing lead for Solaris security and virtualization) and created a podcast that provides an in-depth look into the project.

It is available in both (listen) mp3 and (listen)ogg formats.
