Java EE 6 is a major release of the enterprise Java platform - over 3 years in development.

Roberto Chinnici, the spec lead for Java EE 6, provided some comments on this milestone over on his blog, and Kevin Schmidt did a post offering his perspective on the news as well.

Kevin's blog also reminded me of the recent webinar that our marketing team put together, which highlights the new features of Java EE 6 and the advancements that make Java EE 6 the ideal platform for developers. It's definitely a good way for people to get an overview of :

  • Java EE evolution
  • Java EE 6 features overview
  • GlassFish v3 features
  • Getting started with Java EE 6
