Australia's ABB Grain Looks to Sun's Storage Solutions to Protect Most Critical Asset: Their Data
By mrcoolthreadstm on Jul 13, 2007
ABB Grain has been working with StorageTek for many years for SAN products and it's ever-important disaster recovery strategy. AusBulk's SAN had been supplied by StorageTek, and ABB had what Bogner describes as a good working relationship with StorageTek dating back to before the company's acquisition by Sun Microsystems.
That led ABB to select the Sun StorageTek 6540 array as its second SAN. The SANs were to underpin the disaster recovery strategy, but thanks to the merger a number of other technology changes were needed to set up the strategy.
"It was a much bigger project than just putting in a SAN. We had to replace all our server infrastructure and we relocated all our production services to a co-location facility. That's where the new SAN went," Bogner says.
