On the Road Again: Project Blackbox

Project Blackbox in Singapore -- (photo cribbed from the Project Blackbox blog)

Hot on the heels of its stint at Sun's Customer Engineering Conference in Las Vegas, Project Blackbox will be making 2 more stops in the West over the coming weeks. Next week, Project Blackbox will appear at the GEOINT conference in San Antonio (home of the puffy taco), TX and three weeks later will swing back through Nevada appearing at Supercomputing 2007 (Nov. 10-16) in Reno.

Registration for all stops on the Project Blackbox Tour -- including November and December dates in Mexico and Canada are (or will be) here.

Keep Rollin' Rollin' Rollin' -- Project Blackbox Takes Manhattan

The Project Blackbox tour rolls on-- stopping this week in NYC and then heading onto Burlington, Mass next.  Dave Douglas, CTO for Project Blackbox and Sun's VP of Eco-Responsibility, hosted some press folks who braved chilly temps in Midtown yesterday to get the lowdown on Project Blackbox live and in person. I heard tourists were actually stopping and snapping pix with the Blackbox. Maybe we should have tried to park it over by the Today show!

Paul Monday, over at the Project Blackbox blog, is providing running commentary on the tour and interviewing folks closest to Project Blackbox.  (BTW - Thanks, Paul for the pic above!). Information Week also has a nice image gallery on the NYC stop as well.

2007 Xorg Developer's Conference in Menlo Park, CA, February 7-9, 2007

I wanted to alert folks about the upcoming 2007 X.org Developer's Conference being hosted by Sun at 120 Independence Drive in Menlo Park, CA, February 7-9.

We are expecting 30+ developers of this open source cooperative project to attend the 3 day meeting. They will discuss and advance the current work taking place in the areas of security, display auto-configuration and reconfiguration, and new windowing paradigms, including Project Looking Glass, Beryl and Compiz.

As a major sponsor of the Xorg Foundation, Sun has contributed code, money, equipment, and time in all aspects of running the organization, its internet infrastructure, and events. Sun is committed to the success of the Xorg Foundation as the vehicle which guarantees ubiquitous, high-functioning window system service across all Unix operating system flavors and hardware platforms.
