Check out Philipp Lohmann's blog entry that provides some background behind the OpenOffice.org engineering efforts taking place to support the Mac/Aqua porting effort.
Why is Sun joining in on the OpenOffice.org Mac porting effort?
Simple, it is important to give the Mac porting project the same platform status as Solaris, Linux and Windows. As a consequence, customers with a multi-platform desktop strategy should be able to get the necessary tools and services from Sun when they are looking for fully supported solutions. Our goals is to have one coherent code base under the umbrella of a single community and we thought it best to join the Mac porting project at OpenOffice.org.
So check it out and if you are Mac user, feel free to help out with the effort.
