Gartner recently announced its "Magic Quadrant\* for Horizontal Portal Products, 2008" and positioned Sun in the leaders quadrant. New updates to Sun's Portal strategy and products include:
At JavaOne this year, Sun and Liferay launched an initiative to develop next-generation web and portal technologies in the OpenPortal community. The goal? To give developers a new, stable, standards-based Web presentation platform. In addition, the Sun and Liferay products that result from this initiative will be simple, lightweight presentation capabilities for GlassFish, Sun's open source Java Platform Enterprise Edition (Java EE) application server.
