Leng Tan, VP of Engineering Discusses Oracle Enterprise Manager at Oracle OpenWorld
By Scott McNeil on Sep 13, 2010
As Oracle OpenWorld fast approaches, we sat down with Leng Tan, vice president of Product Development for Oracle Enterprise Manager to get her take on this year's conference.
Leng, what are you looking forward to the most at this year's OpenWorld?
This Oracle OpenWorld, we are all about business-driven IT management. As you know we launched the new release 11g of Oracle Enterprise Manager back in April and with it we have introduced new management capabilities that are unique to Oracle and Oracle Enterprise Manager. We will be showing demos of the product, drill-down technical sessions, numerous hands-on sessions and more. If you care about IT operations and management, you should stop by one of our activities and see how Oracle Enterprise Manager can help you.
Your general session on Business-Driven IT Management, sounds like a great topic; can you give us some insight into your presentation? What can we expect?
Business-Driven IT Management is truly unique to Oracle. I will be spending a few minutes describing what it is and how customers will benefit from it. For example, if you plan to upgrade to Oracle Database 11g or Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 or if you want to improve your patch management capabilities across all of your Oracle technology, we have the answers for you. My favorite part of the presentation is the unveiling of a very exciting solution—the result of a key partnership. I can't talk about it now but it will be a game-changer in its part of the industry. Lastly, I would like to leave our customers with a glimpse into some of our key new technology projects. All-in-all, you will be able to see how Oracle is putting its weight behind Oracle Enterprise Manager to provide the industry's best management solution for the red stack—from applications to disk.
Given this year's theme of see, learn, and meet, what advice would you give attendees?
This year's OpenWorld will cover new technologies across the entire Oracle stack, and Oracle Enterprise Manager will present management technologies across that same stack. Make sure to spend time in the Oracle DemoGrounds and don't miss the opportunity to talk to our experts and get ideas for your new IT projects. Also come see my colleague Ali Siddiqui's session on Business Transaction Management which previews some of the new capabilities Oracle Enterprise Manager brings to the table for middleware management.
For those who can't attend, how can they learn about the new Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g content?
It would be very hard to beat attending Oracle OpenWorld! But we are doing our best to provide as much information to those who can't attend. I invite everyone to go to our resource center at www.oracle.com/enterpisemanager11g to learn about the new product, watch videos, download white papers and learn about upcoming physical and virtual events.
