Creating a VLAN network in Ops Center 12.2

Contributed by Juergen Fleischer and Mahesh Sharma.

In this short blog we would like to show you how to create a VLAN tagged network in Ops Center 12R2. In a future blog we will show you how we’re using a VLAN tagged networks to separate the network traffic between our LDOM guests for security reasons.

To create a VLAN tagged Network from: Navigation -> Networks, then highlight the "default" network as shown below.

On the right under Actions click on “Define Network”

From the next screen: complete the mandatory information (i.e. Network IP and Network Name) as the minimum. Click Next to continue.

The next screen that is of interest to us is on Step 3 - "Assign Fabric". This is where we enter the VLAN ID.

Highlight any Fabric and enter the VLAN-ID. It really does not matter which fabric you assign the VLAN ID to in this example, as the association between VLAN ID and fabric is an internal Ops Center connection. Assigning the correct fabric to a VLAN ID does become important when you’re using Infinibands and Exalogics.

The next few Steps are not required in this example and have been skipped.

Step 9 is the Summary screen, if all is correct press Finish. A job will run and the new VLAN tagged network will be created.

Hope this blog helps!
