Enthusiasm in Singapore
By Brian Leonard on Jan 27, 2009
I attended the Sun Tech Days Singapore event last week and it always re-energizes me to see the enthusiasm out there for OpenSolaris. Here's a snapshot of Chris Armes' well attended opening keynote:
I presented Moving to OpenSolaris, Thriving on OpenSolaris, Data Management Made Easy with ZFS and the ZFS Hands On Lab. When not presenting I generally hung out in the pavilion. The most common question I received was "What's the difference between Solaris and OpenSolaris?". After that, the second most common question was "Does OpenSolaris read NTFS?" If you Google around, you will find some solutions available, however, I just added an enhancment request for out of the box support.
Singapore's a beautiful city and its people some of the nicest I've ever met (it was quite a contrast returning back to the States). I'm glad I got the opportunity to visit.
