Sample Chapter from OpenSolaris Bible

In case you haven't heard about the new OpenSolaris book yet - the name is "OpenSolaris bible" and has been written by Nicholas A. Solter, Jerry Jelinek and David Miner. The book is not available yet, however you can already pre-order it and it is supposed to be available pretty soon. You can read more about the book in the blogs of individual authors: Announcing the OpenSolaris Bible, Writing the OpenSolaris Bible and The Good(?) Book.

I found today the sample chapter from the book, so if you want to "get a taste" of the book you can download the first chapter here. I just can't wait to get the book into my hands! :)

Btw, another OpenSolaris book is also on the horizon - Pro OpenSolaris from Apress.

Comments:

Apress told me that the Pro Opensolaris book is expected to publish the middle of April 09.

Yes, I noticed that, too - I preordered both books :) The bible should ship in second half of February.

Great news!

I can start using my Sun Blade systems as workstations again now things are a little more up to date interface wise :)

Looking forward to the next release.

opensolaris ist dead man. you can´t even use a ps/2 mouse or shutdown+powerdown it without googling for hours. and that has been the case for 4 months since the release, ridiculous.

Hmm, if it's dead, I wonder who keeps downloading the OS :)
