Comments:

You are still running the original version of the OpenSolaris LiveCD (2008.05)?

There are some difference between IPS version and package downloaded from NetBeans.org?
I installed few week ago the NetBeans.org download at is quite slower than linux and windows installation, there are some "patch" or enhancements in the IPS version?

I believe there are no functional differences between the IPS version and the standard version of NetBeans.

Yes, I am still running the original version of OpenSolaris 2008.05, based on svn_86.

Any word on when Sun Studio v12 will be available in the IPS repository? It looks like what's in IPS now is v11.

Actually, what is in the IPS repository is Sun Studio Express, which is even newer than Sun Studio 12. More details available here: http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/IPS/instdevsoft.html#sunstudio

Actually I tried to install netbeans from the package manager and after NOT finding the usual menu short cut under the development I feared having it not installed at all. For which I was totally wrong: I have it installed; version 6.0.1 (?!) released on the Thu Apr 24 18:49:28 2008 .... What's the hell going on here?

Just trying OpenSolaris as a development environment.

Tam,

Your repository cache just needs to be updated. Run

pfexec pkg refresh

and try again.
