An Oracle blog about NetBeans for PHP

Several improvements

Today, I would like to show you several improvements we have implemented in our PHP support. Have a look at the following picture, can you see any of them?

PHP Improvements

I think that most of you have noticed that:

  • PHP projects with framework(s) are annotated with framework icon (together with improved tooltip)
  • PHP frameworks tell project which files are important
  • we have new icons for INI files and Include Path node

That's all for today, as always, please test it and report all the issues or enhancements you find in NetBeans Bugzilla (component php, subcomponent Project). Please notice that if you write a comment here but do not report a bug or enhancement, nothing will probably happen ;)

How about you fix renaming variables? I get the message "The Rename refactoring cannot be applied in this context." Sucks big time.

Nice, but how do we use it?

Is there a configuration file or do we (again) are intended to start downloading sources, learn a certain API and programming Java to get it up and running for some custom framework XY just to get an icon attached to the project?

    To Michal Tatarynowicz:

    Please, report an enhancement. Thanks.

    To Tom:

You can use it in NetBeans if you use Symfony or Zend Framework (or any other framework support); and yes, you need to know Java a bit if you want to create a support for some custom framework, sorry.

Do you realise the images are broken in the RSS feed (and have been for a while)? The image URLs are all relative instead of absolute, and so don't work when embedded in e.g. Google Reader.

Is there any list whith the supporte frameworks or this is only for ZF and Simfony?

    To Michal Tatarynowicz:

    To Michael Stillwell:

Weird, in my RSS reader (Akregator) everything is OK.

  • Tomas Mysik Tuesday, July 13, 2010

    To Guido:

Currently, officially supported are Symfony and Zend Framework.

    To Kamil:

It is something a bit different - CTRL + R is instant rename - it means that it works only in the current file (refactoring is meant to work in your whole project).

    +1 to renaming variables bug.

Every new release of Netbeans comes along with nasty bugs. :(
