NetBeans IDE 7.0 Beta 2 Available for Download

A few minutes ago we have just published NetBeans IDE 7.0 Beta 2. You can download it here.

From PHP point of view the Beta 2 build provides improved performance and quality with bug fixes. Also preview of Git support is available on the Update Center. To obtain the Git plugin, you have to download Beta 2 and in the IDE go to Tools->Plugins->Available Plugins.

 The final release of NetBeans 7.0 is planned for April 2011 and I would like to ask you to give us feedback about your experience with the build.

    Is it just me, or did all the services disappear from the services palette?

    I'm running Max OS 10.6.6

  • Patrick McCoy Thursday, February 17, 2011

    Scratch that. After restarting the app, the services appeared. An error may have occurred on the initial load that prevented the services from loading.

    Have you dropped support for Smarty?

  • Tomek Friday, February 18, 2011

    I have same question What abaut more smarty support ?

  • Petr Jiricka Friday, February 18, 2011

    Smarty support was not "dropped", it just was not published on the update center for this beta release. We are planning to definitely publish it for the final release. If there is high demand, we can also publish it for this beta, but right now we are focusing more on fixing bugs.

    Thank you Petr for your reply.

    I can stick with the previous Beta for now.

    My comment was just to be assured on future plans!

    +1 for wanting smarty back in beta2 if it doesn't slow you down too much.

    Thanks, beta2 looking good so far apart from this, but it's a big step backwards for me.

    +1 for Jonny B comment.

    Hello. I just want to tell that I love Netbeans. And now with Git support, I'm really hoping it to shine. ;) - Do we need to install Git on our OS, our will netbeans deal with that ? Even if it deals with that, should we install

    Thanks a lot for the great development and for the fact that you seem like to understand what are the needs for a programmer, even newbie like me.

    Again, thanks for this.

    The issue #194836 is now fixed.

    The Smarty plugin should appear soon, I have talked with the author and should be on Beta Update Center soon.

    Regarding the question about installation of Git support on your OS: I expect that you need it to install a client on your computer. NetBeans than reuses this client.

    Hi,

    it would be nice to hear what you (NetBeans PHP Developer) are working on. In the last months the news frequence became very low :-S

    Would be nice to hear more from you in the future ;)

    How about adding a button or option to manually force file synchronization when the project is configured to copy files from project source.

  • zevbrokeit Thursday, February 24, 2011

    +1 for Smarty plugin support soon. Looking forward to having HTML5 tags recognized AND Smarty support.

    Thanks!

  • Christian Friday, February 25, 2011

    @Raymond:

    In this case SVN surely is the easiest solution ;)

    will the new NB 7 improve on javascript autocomplete feature? the PHP autocomplete feature is awesome, but not for javascript. Many easy code can broke the autocomplete feature. For example,

    <script type="text/javascript">

    var somObjct = function() {

    return { someAttribute: "blubb" }

    };

    somObject.someAttribute = '1'

    </script>

    NB will completely has no sense on the 'someAttribute'

    Hi Net-beanies

    Just wanted to say many thanks for getting the smarty plugin available again for beta 2.

    For some reason when i first installed it, it didn't activate itself so i thought it didn't work, but i just needed to go into the installed plugins list and activate it.

    Anyway, thanks again! :)

    To Christian: I'm sorry that I have written only few posts, but there is big lack of time. We are in the fixing phase and I'm trying to fix as many issues as it's possible.
