NetBeans Git Support - Help

Probably the next version of NetBeans will have Git support in the standard distribution. In the past I was advocating to have good Git support in NetBeans, because many PHP users ask for it. Few days ago Tomas, who works for the team that develop the Git support, asked to help him to review their documents. I would like to ask you, if you are interested in Git support, help us with it. I have to admit that you use Git more then me, so we would like to know your opinion, your cases etc.

The entry point for the documents is here. You can write comments, opinion and post them at git@versioncontrol.netbeans.org mailing list or write here under this post and I will post your note to the right team. Thank very much for your help.

Cool, I'll be happy to see git finally supported within netbeans. No more switching to and from the terminal.

That's a very good news, now that Git is more in Symphony world!

But firstly, I think NetBeans should make NBGIT plugin as first class citizen in NetBeans IDE.

Cool! I've been waiting for this to be included in the standard distribution of netbeans.

This would be a welcome addition to NetBeans. We manage versioning of our company website via Git.

    My use case:

    git format-patch -N

    Priority 2

    im agreed with hantsy

NBGit should be used as base in order to make this project... i used it for a while and it's pretty good

I'm waiting this for a lot!

One opinion - I need "git svn" commands family support. I understand this is not highest priority, but it would be useful.

Nice to see Git support coming.

But What about long-existing PHP bugs which are so annoying...

    https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=185714

Would be nice if you voted for fixing it, since this one exists since 6.8.

The Drupal community (php based) is going that direction. I use Unfuddle now with a git and svn repo for several projects using NetBeans everyday for Java/PHP development. That is my use case, and NetBeans is great.

    Super excited to hear this!

It would be so helpful to have git support in the next release of netbeans! I am a user of github and heroku and would find it very useful. I would like to suggest that you throw a heroku plugin as well. That way rails developers like me can do everything from netbeans without the need of a terminal or aptana.

Great. I use Hg and Git now. Love them both. It would be very hard to go back to SVN or CVS. Hg is for my Java EE 6 stuff and Git for Ruby on Rails 3. Would be great if I could get RoR 3 with Git in NetBeans. I gave up eclipse over a year ago and am eager to do more with NetBeans.

What is about the Bzr support in NetBeans, even it is not popular in NetBeans community, but some project are using it as scm, eg.the ubuntu community.

I think it is good for Linux and C/CPP developer if it is supported.

I'd very much appreciate git support out of the box!

  • Jakub Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Yup, svn is great, but git as far as wrokflow and cmd client features seems to be a step further. Many would like to use it out of the box so you got my vote :D and i'm really close to put git in prodcution now so the sooner the better :D

git support would be great. All projects I have are managed with git and the nbgit plugin does a great job, but a complete integration would be awesome.

  • Gernot Ullrich Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Git support (as well as best RoR support) is a must vor us. Please don't loos momentum on both.

This from a long time netbeans supporter...

  • Richard Friday, November 5, 2010

The GIT netbeans plugin works great for me, but full client integration would be best.

  • Andy Monday, November 8, 2010

Git support would be great and it will be a good help for us, we just moved our project to github.

  • dvdrtrgn Thursday, November 18, 2010

I love the nbgit plugin... I wonder what is better about this one?
