Karen Tegan Padir's talk to the SOA/BI team.

Karen gave an inspiring speech to the SOA/BI gathering yesterday, where in she exhorted the gathering to look back each day and think what they have done for Sun and whether the work they have done for the day could solve some customer issue. The most interesting portions of her talk from my perspective are

  1. Sun is driven by Integrity and Innovation.

  2. Interoperability – product suites of the same vendors solving business problems being able to inter-operate and communicate without breaking each other's functionality

  3. Looking for business sense for the technology we are innovating.

  4. Sun's concentration on the companies those defy the Moore's Law (As the hardware sophistication goes on the companies have to buy less, since they get greater capability machines at lesser price). But in case of companies the investment in technology fuels further business, there by technology becomes driving force for the business.

  5. One more interesting thing I learnt is business houses does not shun software vendors for whether the current product can cater to their business needs rather they keep out vendor's who can not commit that the software that they deliver today backward as well as future compatibility.
