Oracle Database 19c is now available for Exadata customers. 19c is intended to be the "long-term support" release of what we refer to as "the 12c family of releases". Many customers have already moved to 12c or 18c, and those with exquisite taste have adopted the container database architecture - in other words, they've converted their databases to PDBs and they're enjoying the benefits of Multitenant. Those that did have been bragging about all the benefits that they can enjoy, namely:
Meanwhile, other customers have taken more of a wait-and-see approach. 220.127.116.11, which rounded out the 11g family of releases and was the long-term support release for 11g, was after all, a darned good database. Sometimes I think it's our biggest competitor! Well, if you're in that category, the wait is over (at least as far as your Exadatas are concerned...).
Highlights of the release can be found in Dom Giles’s excellent blog post.
There is also a series of videos on YouTube about some of the great bounty that comes with 19c. In this one, I talk specifically about what we have in Multitenant. This one is a bit briefer, but comes with pictures if you prefer the presentation format.
You owe it to yourself to try out 19c. Download it today and try it out for yourself!
