We’re thrilled to announce that Gartner has positioned Oracle in the Leaders quadrant of its 2020 Magic Quadrant for Cloud Financial Planning and Analysis Solutions. Out of 12 vendors evaluated, Oracle is positioned highest for ability to execute and furthest for completeness of vision.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Oracle has been recognized as a Leader. We’re happy to make this report available to readers with our compliments.

We believe that the current global uncertainties have proven the value of Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM—especially for financial planning and analysis. Boards and other stakeholders are looking to finance teams to help them make informed decisions that will ensure business resiliency and have a lasting impact. We see Oracle Cloud EPM leading the industry in delivering comprehensive scenario planning capabilities that help finance teams to visualize multiple “what-if” scenarios, assess how to best respond to each one, and run simulations to model and manage associated risks.
In our view, the ability to support and connect planning across the organization is a competitive differentiator for Oracle. It’s no longer enough to simply plan well in finance and then plan separately in other departments, such as operations, sales, or HR. Companies that connect and align their planning processes and decisions across their organization will outpace the competition. Gartner writes, “By 2024, 70% of all new financial planning and analysis projects will become extended planning and analysis (xP&A) projects, extending their scope beyond the finance domain into other areas of enterprise planning and analysis.” (Gartner, Magic Quadrant for Cloud Financial Planning and Analysis Solutions, Greg Leiter, Robert Anderson, John Van Decker, 6 October 2020.)
Oracle delivers purpose-built solutions to streamline and manage planning processes in sales, marketing, human resources, IT and supply chain functions. Oracle Cloud EPM brings together multiple EPM capabilities into a single suite: financial and operational planning, profitability and cost management, account reconciliation, consolidation and close, tax reporting, narrative reporting, and enterprise master data management (EDM). These capabilities, along with built-in best practices, help customers to gain value quickly.
We’ve also infused these capabilities with machine learning to automate routine tasks and provide more predictive, intelligent planning and insights. Gartner notes, “By 2024, 70% of new artificial intelligence projects in the finance domain will be deployed using out-of-the-box functionality.” (Gartner, Magic Quadrant for Cloud Financial Planning and Analysis Solutions, Greg Leiter, Robert Anderson, John Van Decker, 6 October 2020.)
The result, according to customers, is less time spent on data gathering and reconciliation, and more time spent on business strategy. “It saves our analysts time on reporting, data analysis, and calculations,” one customer wrote in a recent TrustRadius report. “It saves us 20% of time off of our calculation processes for our entire cycle.”
“We’re proud that Gartner has once again named Oracle a Magic Quadrant Leader in the Cloud EPM market,” said Hari Sankar, Oracle’s group vice president of product management. “At Oracle, we are dedicated to giving our customers the most complete, innovative and flexible performance management solutions so that we can help them navigate a rapidly changing economic environment and chart a course back to growth. We believe this report acknowledges our customer-first mindset and validates our commitment to continuous innovation.”
Oracle has garnered consistent industry recognition for its financial and performance management applications. In addition to being named a Leader in this report, Oracle was recently recognized as a Leader in Gartner’s 2020 Magic Quadrant for Cloud Core Financial Management Suites for Midsize, Large and Global Enterprises for the fourth consecutive year. And Oracle was named the only Leader in Gartner’s 2020 Magic Quadrant for Cloud ERP for Product-Centric Enterprises for the second year.
