Recently, Gartner issued its first Magic Quadrant™ reports for two new categories: cloud strategic corporate performance management (CPM) and cloud financial CPM. We’re very excited to announce that Oracle has been named a leader in both categories, based upon our ability to execute and completeness of vision.

We’re making both reports available to readers with our compliments.

This year, Gartner decided to focus their 2017 Magic Quadrants for CPM solutions exclusively on public cloud offerings, disregarding on-premises functionality. There are two CPM Magic Quadrants this year:

  1. Cloud strategic CPM, which is primarily focused on improving planning, budgeting and forecasting, and also includes strategy management, profitability modeling, and performance reporting
  2. Cloud financial CPM, focusing on improving financial consolidation, financial and management reporting and disclosures, financial close management, account reconciliations and management/narrative reporting

Oracle refers to CPM as enterprise performance management, or EPM.

Why Move Strategic CPM to the Cloud?

According to Gartner, the strategic CPM market is shifting from mature on-premises offerings to cloud solutions as finance application leaders seek to reduce application support costs, increase application flexibility and shorten the time to value. New solutions built, or significantly re-architected as, cloud services are typically easier to use and maintain than the previous generation of on-premises offerings.

Oracle Named a Leader in Strategic CPM

Oracle already has strong market traction with Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS) in companies of all sizes. Kraft Heinz, Communications Test Design, and many other companies all wanted the convenience of the cloud but, more importantly, the flexibility, scalability and automation that would enable them to focus on strategy and reduce their manual workload—now and in the future.

According to a survey conducted by Oracle, 86% of respondents indicated that it’s important to have a connected set of cloud services across performance management, enterprise resource planning and more—all provided by one vendor. Being a named a leader in both CPM and ERP makes Oracle a good choice. 71% indicated that faster deployment times were a key benefit of moving CPM to the cloud. The ability to gain efficiency and innovate faster led 78% of respondents that already have a CPM process in the cloud today to say they would be likely or very likely to move more of them. Oracle is continually building more CPM cloud applications to streamline all CPM processes.

Why Move Financial CPM to the Cloud?

As with strategic CPM, the financial CPM market has shifted from mature on-premises offerings to cloud solutions as finance application leaders have sought improvements in financial close capabilities, enhanced cost control and efficiencies, greater application flexibility and shorter time to value. In addition to providing these advantages, financial CPM solutions in the cloud are typically easier to use and manage than the previous generation of on-premises offerings.

Oracle Named a Leader in Financial CPM

Financial consolidation, account reconciliation and enterprise performance reporting are specialties for Oracle. With 35 years in the financial consolidation space, Oracle has numerous customers using its world-class cloud applications to streamline the close process, speed consolidation and shorten management reporting time, including Flamel Technologies, Gersh Academy, Investec Bank plc. and many more.

According to a recent Oracle study, customers have a list of “must-haves” for financial CPM: providing accurate, timely, concise reports for all stakeholders; consolidating faster; and guaranteeing compliance. As a market leader, Oracle provides all this and more. 86% of respondents saw CPM cloud solutions as a way of adding high-value extensions to their core financial systems, avoiding the pain and cost associated with future upgrades and making it easy to keep current on new technology. Oracle provides the functionality and ease of use to help companies excel with cloud financial CPM.

Strategic and financial executives worldwide expect more from their CPM systems, and are getting better, faster and more cost effective results in the cloud. Working with Oracle—an experienced, leading provider that has thousands of live customers, in many countries and languages—can help companies of any size feel confident in their choice to move CPM to the cloud and transform their business.

Whether you are currently using a series of spreadsheets, have bootstrapped a home grown system, or are currently using an on-premises solution, consider a cloud CPM solution to get more out of your strategic and/or financial data.
