Learn from One University’s Journey to the Cloud

Lynne Sampson
Managing Editor

According to a recent report, funding for public two- and four-year colleges in the USA is nearly $10 billion below pre-recession levels. In this environment, higher education institutions are facing some tough challenges, including:

  • Increased competition for the best faculty and researchers, in an environment where new sources of funding can be difficult to come by
  • Competition for students raised on mobile devices, who expect registration and administrative processes to be as easy as opening an app
  • The need to reduce expenses—in order to free up additional funds for the best talent, well equipped research labs, a modern student experience, and investment in mobile services

To meet these challenges, many universities are looking at more cost-effective technologies such as the cloud. By moving to cloud and automating manual processes across finance and HR, campuses can free up funds for more important investments into research and recruitment. In addition, the cloud can provide the dashboards, reports and analytics demanded by today’s college presidents, boards of directors, faculty, and campus administration teams.

One such institution is Pittsburg State University (Kansas). The university was faced with disparate, aging systems and manual processes that made it difficult to view data across all of its systems. Pittsburg State decided to embark on a modernization journey to the cloud, with all the change management challenges such a move entails.

Join Pittsburg State University for a webinar to learn from their experience. Panelists will discuss the research behind their decision, the challenges of cultural change and achieving buy-in, and the role that project management plays in such a major implementation.
