Q. What is it?
A. The Mobile Challenge app was inspired by the “Pokemon Go!” phenomenon. We quickly develop an app that would encourage OpenWorld attendees to visit specific OpenWorld sessions, partner booths and mobile experts. The app uses Bluetooth to detects if a player is near specially configured Bluetooth beacons which are placed/carried at specific sessions, booths, and people). A successful scan/detect will earn you points.
Q. Who can play?
A. Any attendee to Oracle OpenWorld can play, however, Oracle employees are not eligible to win prizes from our partners.
Q. Where can I get the app?
A. Google Play and Apple App Store. Search for “Oracle Mobile Challenge” Or follow these links:
Q. What are the prizes?
A. Samsung is providing the prizes. Please see blogs.oracle.com/mobile for details.
Q. How do I win?
A. On a daily basis (Mon – Wed at the event, Sept 19, 20, 21) the top three players on the leaderboard are declared winners. The leaderboard can be seen within the app. The count is the full 24 hours for each day, PST) Important: Every day is a new day – and the leaderboard and user points are reset! That means there’s a chance to win every day. Top 3, every day.
Q. How do I know if I’ve won?
A. We will leverage Oracle MCS’s push notification to do a push notification to all players (iOS and Android) to declare the winners. We will blog about it on blogs.oracle.com/mobile, Twitter, etc. so there is full transparency.
Q. If I win, where do I get my prize?
A. Directions will be in the push notifications and/or blog post.
Q. How do I get points?
A. You get points when the Mobile Challenge app detects specially configured Bluetooth beacons. Beacons are placed at specific sessions, booths and people. By attending specific sessions, visiting specific booths, and meeting specific people, you gain points. See the listing within the mobile app for specific sessions, partner booths and people. Some entities are worth more than others. For example, these two sessions are worth 200 point each and thus very much worthy to attend.
Q. Are points cumulative?
A. No. Every day is a new day! Points are reset each day so everyone gets a fresh start.
Q. What if there is a tie?
A. In the event of a tie, the winner is chosen based on time. The player who reached the score first, is the winner. For example, if there are 2 people who are tied for 3rd place, the person with the earliest time stamp wins.
Q. Is participation in the Mobile Challenge anonymous?
A. Yes. No personal information is collected. All information is anonymous. The winner simply presents their app, showing their unique player name. We will check your badge ensure you are a valid OpenWorld attendee.
Q. Where can I learn more and get updated information?
A. Please see blogs.oracle.com/mobile for details and/or https://sites.oracle.com/oowdx/
