WebLogic not reading boot.properties

In previous versions of WebLogic the boot.properties file was loaded in the $MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/[domain] directory. During startup WebLogic would check its existance, if it was there it would checks its credentials. If correct the administrator would not be prompted for a username and password.

This location has now become unsupported and the default location has changed to

$MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/[domain]/servers/[managed_server]/security

In most instances you will need to create the security directory

If you want to specify a custom directory add the following to the startup scripts for the server.

-Dweblogic.system.BootIdentityFile=[loc]/boot.properties

create a boot.properties file using the following entry

username=<adminuser>
password=<password>

Thanks, that was helpful. All this unsupported stuff is quite a hustle...

Appears that the correct location of the boot.properties file is

$MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/[domain]/servers/[AdminServer]/security
and not $MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/[domain]/servers/[managed_server]/security

No my path is correct, you need to create the security folder for the managed server. This is probably why you don't see it.

cheers

I actually first followed your note and created the security folder under the managed server (oam_server1) directory but it did not work.

I then created the security folder under the AdminServer directory and renamed the original boot.properties to file to boot_old.properties under the managed server directory (oam_server1) and only then did it work.

I just completed this action a few hours ago and can verify with a teammate who was working alongside me.
