The best thing about living in China

is that we can afford to have a housekeeper come in every day. When we lived in California we spent much of our "free" time cooking, cleaning and doing laundry and even then our house was usually a mess. But now when I come home from work my bed is made:

Dinner is on the table (on this day we had stir-fried pumpkin, egg-and-tomato and eggplant):

And when we're done with dinner I just put the dishes in the sink:

Also the laundry is washed, dried, and put away.

All this is possible thanks to our "ayi" Xiao Zou. She's hard-working, meticulous, diligent and trust-worthy. Thank you Xiao Zou!!!

I stayed in Hong Kong for 6 weeek over the summer in a service apartment. Cleaning lady 2 times a week, laundry done by my father inlaw's domestic helper, who also cook us dinner most nights...Life was good :)

When we are done with dinner, I just put the dishes in the sink too -- only to find out I need to wash them the next day...

Lol Xiangxiang! :) Stacy, was it hard to go back to life without help after being spoiled like this? I guess I'll learn one day but hopefully not any time soon. - melanie
